This 4 mile linear walk is part of our series of “Wellness Walks” which start and end at a metro station. The walks are designed to offer widows and widowers the opportunity to meet up to improve their mental and physical wellbeing after a year of near isolation and deprived of company. We also recognise that many members, especially those recently bereaved, may be anxious about venturing outside. The walks, we hope, will also help to build confidence and lead to us rebuilding our lives after lockdown. All walks take place within Tyne and Wear, though we do hope to offer similar walks and events in other areas. To be as inclusive as possible, walks start and end at a metro station and are between 3.5 and 8.5 miles in length.
The meeting place for today’s walk is Seaburn Metro Station, 10.30am for a 10.45am start.
Today’s short 4 mile walk is on the level along metalled paths with one steep climb via steps or a roadway. The route takes us through Roker Park and along the seafront before we arrive at the Sunderland Glass Centre where we may stop for refreshments or to visit the museum. We then re-join our walk to the end at St Peters Metro Station.
Please bring a packed lunch and a drink.
Although Covid restrictions allow up to 30 people to meet outdoors, we will walk in groups of six.
On booking, please complete the “Day Event” booking form from the link on your booking confirmation.
