This 4.5 mile circular walk is part of our series of “Wellness Walks” The walks are designed to offer widows and widowers the opportunity to meet up to improve their mental and physical wellbeing after a year of near isolation and deprived of company. We also recognise that many members, especially those recently bereaved, may be anxious about venturing outside. The walks, we hope, will also help to build confidence and lead to us rebuilding our lives after lockdown. All walks take place within Tyne and Wear, though we do hope to offer similar walks and events in other areas. To be as inclusive as possible, walks start and end at a metro station and are between 3.5 and 8.5 miles in length.
The meeting place for today’s walk is South Hylton Metro Station, 10.30am for a 10.45am start. A little later than our other walks.
Today’s short walk follows a disused railway line (can be muddy), a quiet country lane, woods and a short climb up to the monument. Although there are a few stiles to cross, these can be omitted.
Please bring a packed lunch and a drink, although there is a pub nearby, if open, serving outdoors only.
On booking, please complete the “Day Event” booking form from the link on your booking confirmation.
